Students in year 12 & 13 who are working at Level 3 all have a timetabled IAG lesson each week.

In year 12 students will work through the Progression Module which is a formal programme of study that provides an opportunity for students to investigate progression routes – primarily to Higher Education.

Content - The module comprises four units:

  • you and your career

  • exploring your future

  • managing your money

  • marketing yourself

Successful completion of the scheme earns the participant 30 UCAS points, recognised by the University of Huddersfield, Leeds Metropolitan University, Leeds Trinity University College and Bradford College.

Aim & Objectives

  • to provide a structured and formalised HE preparation programme

  • to encourage progression into Higher Education for all students

  • to support preparation for Higher Education with structured and formalised Higher Education information and guidance programme

  • to encourage informed choices and decisions by individuals

  • to provide formal recognition for the work undertaken by students in preparation for Higher Education

In year 13 students continue with a weekly timetabled lesson with support and advice towards their plans once they leave BVGS.

We support students with their applications through UCAS, personal statements, CV’s and other applications & student finance.

We have invited representatives from local universities in to school to deliver sessions on different subject area’s and talk about what it will be like to study at their institution.
